“Good morning, it’s 5 o’clock”…

The morning routine begins, with an early wakeup call and two hours to get everything organized before the start of the day's leg.

Pack up tent and sleeping bags, go get the vehicle. Load up the gear and place the vehicle in the right line. Breakfast. Daily briefing. Then, at last, the long awaited moment: the starting line. This will be the ritual for the days to come...

A quiet connection to reach the playground of the day. The first CPs which wouldn't even raise the eyebrows of a gazelle and we arrive on the great expanses.

Here the plateaus and hamadas are cut by wadis of varying depth, more or less passable. We sometimes enter this wadi surrounded by small cliffs and only come out several hundred meters away... but far from the course followed... when we can get out... One wonders if these wadis were not put here to “eat miles”.

And then, while we're at it, there are also these large sandy wadis that come down from the north, soft and rolling... but protected by camel grass barriers that stop you just for the pleasure of seeing you shovel for a while more or less long.

What if it was just them. We talk about cauliflowers; of this cursed, completely inedible plant, filled with sand, hard as stone and which calls us to order when we dare to put the wheels on it?

That's all ? To complete it all, there are very few marked reliefs in this sector, or so far away, or the heat haze which prevents you from seeing more than 5 kilometers.

This first step will not be easy. The return to DAR KAOUA will be welcome to take a little rest because tomorrow it will not be the beach... despite the sand.
